Top Tips For Choosing a Garage Door Company

When buying a new garage door, word-of-mouth is your friend – ask trusted friends or family members. If you know of a good company, you can then look them up online to find out more about them. Alternatively, you could find one for yourself by searching for “garage doors” plus your city in Google. From there, you should contact the company directly to learn about their level of skills and trustworthiness by asking certain questions.

Here are some ideas of what to ask, and the signs of a good company.

1.) LEARN MORE ABOUT THE GARAGE DOOR COMPANY

  • What is their history? Are they a new garage door company? If so, how much experience do their owners have?
  • Are they registered and able to work? They should have all necessary licenses and permits to work in your area.
  • Do they have insurance? This is absolutely necessary and every garage or roller door company should be fully insured
  • Do they use reputable brands?

2.) FIND OUT ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS

  • Good companies will offer a list of references. These are past customers who have agreed to give their honest opinion about their experience.
  • You could also check their profiles on Google (search for their company name), and while you’re there you might find reviews on Facebook or elsewhere too.
  • You can also ask the company to provide details of past projects, such as photos of completed work and where it was done. A good company that cares would also have on their website a garage door gallery of recent projects.

3.) ASSESS THEIR LEVEL OF GARAGE DOOR KNOWLEDGE AND CARE

A good company will try to get the following information from you during your meeting. This will show you that they are actively trying to give you good advice about choosing a door (whether it be a roller door, a sectional door or a custom door etc.)

They will ask you about…

  • What size you need
  • What is your budget
  • What is the design of your house (in order to match the style of the door)
  • What functions, features, and traits you might need
  • What other requirements you could have

They will offer…

  • Different options at different garage door prices
  • A complete quote including labor and equipment
  • Access to a servicing guide that covers operation and maintenance
  • Answers to any technical questions you might have with confidence

If a company can pass most of these points, they are probably a good and reliable company to deal with. If, however, they hesitate to answer any questions or are not willing to provide full answers, you might want to look elsewhere (ask some friends, have a search on Google etc.).
